Ive had a biocube skimmer on my 29 gallon and I've never got junk to empty out. I've adjusted many time and nothing.
Now, during a move, I got rid of my hang on refugium and got a 15 gallon tank and made that into a refugium and added a coral life skimmer. Same problem. No matter how I adjust it, all i get it clear liquid. I adjust it and bubbles rise above the cup, pour over and it comes out as clear water. My levels have always been 0 nitrates, 0 nitrites, 8.2 pH, 450 calcium, 12 dKh, 0 phosphates and 0 ammonia. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or do I just have nothing to skim?
Second problem, after the move and hooking up the new filtration, I've noticed brown algae growing in the refugium and in the overflow box. I've test and tested and still get the same results as I have always had them.
I do weekly water changes and never use tap water. What could be the cause of the brown algae?
The main tank is 29 gallons, the refugium is 15 gallons. I have a uv light running, a rio 2500 pump pushing the water to the tank, a overflow box returning the water to a filter sock that I clean out everyday, and a coral life super skimmer rated for a 65g.
