Question 1:
I have finally got my calcium(450) and alk(3.75meq/L) under control. But this weekend is my scheduled water change. Will this water change screw up the calcium and alk again, or is their a proper proportion in the saltmix?
Question 2:
My birthday is in October and I will be asking for a protein skimmer for my tank. I have an Eclipse2 25gal High tank with 25# of LR and 3in LSB. I have changed the lighting on this tank to give me 130 watts (5.0+watts/gal) so I wanna get some coral. I wanna wait till i get the calcium and alk under control and start dripping some Kalk before getting any. So I will probably get coral in November if all goes well.
Well my question is what skimmer should i get for a 25 gallon tank. I have no sump so I atleast want a skimmer. Remember this is a Eclipse tank with the eclipse hood so I dont think i can get a hang on skimmer, at least i dont think i can. Anyways I would like a good skimmer that would work for this tank.

I don't think the saltmix has a calcium level of 450 but a 5-10% water change shouldn't throw it out much if any.
No idea on the skimmer.

What salt mix are you using. If Reef Crystals or similar, then you should be OK. Instant Ocean will definitely drop your Ca and Alk in that small of a system IMO.
Try a Bak-Pak 2r for a skimmer.

its my understanding that if you want to add anyhtign to any eclipse ytem you are going to have to make some modifications to the hood...skimmer or otherwise!
good luck

p.s. i would also reccommend the bak pak, or a sea clone skimmer for that size tank!
good luck
