20 Gallon ?'s

I'm thinking about downgrading my 55 gallon SW to a 20 gallon SW, simply because of money issues. You see, my tank is totally self-funded, which makes the tank really, really expensive. I know a lot of you will want me to keep the bigger tank up, but its really too much money for me. I'm thinking 2x65 watt PC's for 130 watts over a 20 gallon, which should allow me to keep anything but SPS/clams/anemones. Is it true that all I need is a protein skimmer, LS, and LR for filtration? There's no need for my HOB aquaclear?? For fish, I was thinking...2 percula clowns, 1 fourline wrasse (similar to a sixline wrasse, same body shape, but four lines instead of six, and different colors), and 1 coral beauty angel. Sound good? Let me know what ya'll think...I truly value all your opinions!

I have a 20 gl long with 2x65 w 50/50 PC..works great for me, but you should keep your aquaclear cause the more filtration the better...But yeah for fish i have 3 percs a scooter and a firefish, overstocked but thats how i like it.

I down sized to smaller tanks and do not regret it at all!! I have a 20 long that I put T5's on. I still use by HOB filter, 900 maxi jet and heater but I did well with the rock work and there are so many great corals that you don't notice the equipment IMO. I did talk to my LFS who said that if I got a good skimmer, put in a DSB that I could ditch the HOB but it's an emporer 400 that I paid a lot for and I would rather use what I have for right now. I have both PC lights and T5's and I must say everything looks better under the T5's. The only thing I can't stress enough is you have to be constant with your water changes on smaller tanks. I do 10% one week and 20% the next with RO water. Good luck.

Even SPS and clams? Are you sure? Do you keep everything under your T-5's?

I got a 24 gallon JBJ nano Cube. I love the thing. It is the new one with the thicker glass. Up and running about 7 months now. I got a pretty good amount in there and it is rockin' I don't use a skimmer or extra powerheads. But I did upgrade the stock pump to a MaxiJet 1200 and the lighing is a Finnex 18'' with 150 Watt Mh and 2-18watt PC's. The silly light cost more than the tank. But if you are only keeping Softies and fish the stock lighting was 72 watts of PC's.
Here's what is in mine right now:
45 lbs of Live Rock
35 lbs of Live Sand
2 - false Percs
1 - Golden Head Sleeper Goby
1 - Royal Gramma (in the Hosptial tank right now - bacterial infection)
1 - coral banded shrimp
3 emerald crabs
12 hermits (I think less now. I don't see all of them)
15 turbo snails
Corals:
Large branching frogspawn
Pangoda Cup
Large Yellow polyp colony
about 4 different zoos...(waiting for the babies to take off)
Green star Polyps
Kenya Trees
Blue Mushrooms
Large Palypas Zoos
small basto
I just put in a small frag of orange and green Caps. First try at SPS's
The water stays crystal clear most of the time. I do 10% water changes every two weeks. and the goby cleans the sand for me.
I think your choices of fish are nice and should be good in a 20 gallon. I think I would look for a long 20 as they call it.
Just thinking about this.....With all that stuff....there is probably only about 15 gallons of water.....
