i am thinking of setting up a 20 gallon saltwater tank in my 20 gallon marineland biowheel tank it was a tank that came with everything.I am kinda new to saltwater when i was younger my dad setup a 75 gallon saltwater tank ( which i still have) but i want to set up this smaller tank before i go to the 75 i know i will need a new filter i am looking at a rapids mini canister ilter from dr foster and smith its for up to 20 gallons. Will the LEDs that came with it work for this type pf tank? what else do I need or what would you recommend?
i dont want much in the tank just a couple clowns some shrimp and a star or two.

An aquaclear hob filter or arn emperor 280 would be a good filter for it as well. Canister filters need a lot of maintenance for saltwater aquariums, so its best to stick with something that you can easily switch out filters.
Youll need a couple 5g utility containers for transporting saltwater from the fish store, or purchasing freshwater for top offs. An alternative to purchasing water is to buy a ro unit. Pure water is key to success in saltwater.
Youll need a small powerhead, like a koralia nano 440.
Youll need a hydrometer to measure your salinity. Youll also need a net, some mysis or enriched brine shrimp in frozen cubes. A turkey baster for blowin off rocks.
A maxijet 1200 powerhead is great for mixing saltwater in small batches.
Patience.
