I'm betting it will be pretty mellow. I had the pleasure of experiencing 2 named storms last year, one on my honeymoon and then IKE. My tank is still recovering from Ike.

Whenever and wherever they hit, George W Bush can't be blamed anymore. Of course though, some will continue to blame Bush for everything, no matter what.

I believe that no less than seven consecutive hurricanes of category five intensity will pound Omaha, Nebraska into oblivion.
Somebody want to work out the odds for me?

You can't be serious?
But serious thought, As someone who has personally experienced Ike, seen the destruction...
Sometimes the best think you can do is make a game out of it. We've made choices for one reason or another to live in an area prone to these storms. We've all been hurt or effected in one way or another, experienced tragedy. However, if I take it too seriously, it can majorly impact negatively my life. So as a relief humor is always the best medicine. It may be hard or calloused, but sometimes you need that to keep on living.
Ever been heard a bunch of doctors or nurses cut loose after a hard day. The jokes they tell will make most people cringe. But it is their coping mechanism. So as far as I'm concerned joke away.

Hubby says if it makes it to Teresa we are in trouble. hehe
I have been thru several hurricans the worse was Charlie
my kids and I were less the 20 miles away from the eye of charlie-cat 4. My husband had to work 5 or 6 days straight night and day away from us. We made it, cant say so much for the trees in the yard, the kids 5 hundred dollar swing set, the shingles on our roof, the hardwood floors in my living room, the window in my daughters room that blew out-(the only window we didnt cover)-I stood in my living room watching my sliding glass doors bow in and out. I rushed the kids to the bedroom to wait the rest of the storm out.
I can laugh about it now, but it was scary.

Yikes...I'll take my, on and off, three months of snow over that. The ocean is awesome, but that would just be too much for me. I would pack up and leave the state everytime I even heard the word "hurricane".

I'd take a hurricane over a blizzard ANY day.

Really? With a blizzard so long as you have 4 wheel drive it is no problem...just white fluffy stuff...I have driven in a few..once the highway was shut down right in the middle of my drive. My hour and a half commute took over 7 hours that night, but I was never frieghtened for my life. Couldn't really see far enough to know what to be afraid of
. Ice/sleet is another story, but I think blizzards are cool to watch, and shoveling is actually fun when you have been couped up in the house for weeks because it is too cold to justify being out for entertainment.

x2. Cold sucks....
Nothing like all of the 'water sports' you can invent after a hurricane. Not to make light of the situation, but after Andrew in Miami, we had a blast. There were 50ft tall Australian pines at lined the back of our house/lot, after Andrew knocked them over, we had the most amazing jungle-gym.

Good that you can find silver lining after such an event. Thought maybe you were a surfer and were going to comment on huge waves or something along those lines. Wasn't expecting jungle-gym...tough to fit that into a conversation not pertaining to playground equipment

Keep in mind I was 6 when Andrew hit. I'll try and have my brother dig up pics tomorrow...
