Remember, only change one filter cartridge out at a time so you don't disrupt the ecosystem too much while it is establishing itself.

it is doing to good. we are DONE adding stuff to the tank for now. only thing i could possible change is a few SMALL pieces of live rock.
we are currently in the process of getting rid of my hubbys 75 gallon FW tank for a 30-40 gal SW (i rubbed off on him!!! YAY)

Congrats! I bet you have a happy husband. ;)
When people have some amount of success, they eventually do upgrade pretty quick. Why don't you keep your 75g tank and set it up as saltwater? I have a 75g... love it. :D

Ehh because we live in a small apartment and the 75 gallon stand is an eye sore HAHA when we get our own place we will be getting a bigger one. I am glad I decided to do sw. Looking at that beautiful tank is such a big reward.. it makes up for being more expensive than sw but its not as expensive as we thought.

Yeah, I know what you mean about aquarium funiture, especially manufacturers stands can be an eye sore. Luckily, I have the knowledge and skills to build my own... I also build aquatic furniture for many clients as well. Gotta love living in Louisiana!
Yes, saltwater can be expensive - but for the most part, once you buy all of the equipment, the livestock really isn't that bad... if you know what you are doing, your livestock will live for many, many years to come.

day 14.
sorry guys, we had a busy weekend...
i am so happy with this tank. today we added a tomato clown. i gave in, my hubby likes them alot so we got it. i figured with all the filtering we do and wc's, he will be okay. he seems to like it. my chair is right by it and when i sit in it he swims to me and looks at me. he stays out front and the 4 stripe damsel likes to stay behind the rocks. our 3 snails and 2 shrimp are doing great too.. as you can tell, we got more coral. my hubby traded a big FW fish for some and its all doing good. we also added another piece of L.R.
ONE ?..... does coral HAVE to be attached to the L.R. or can it be sat in the sand? it all is doing good but i just want to make sure...
here are a few pics.

Your answer is,... It depends on the coral. Lol. No definite answer. Tongue corals, plate corals and open brains are corals that enjoy being on sand specifically. Some clams prefer sand over rock as well. Just depends on what you have. But, for the most part, corals are naturally attached to rocks or are rocks themselves.
