I have a 55gal. that I am going to have as a FOWLR soon. And I have a 10gal. glass that I would like to use as a sump. How hard would it be to make this work? Or do I need a bigger sump than 10gal.?
Can I put my Emperor 400 on this 10 gal. in addition to heater and skimmer etc.?
Could someone explain to me all the stuff I need and how to set up this sump? And could you explain it to me like I'm an eight yr. old. (hehe)
And what would be the best skimmer?

You could do a search on this BB - and read about sumps for a very long time.
If the tank's not drilled - you'll need an external U tube overflow, to allow water in the tank to "overflow" down to the sump.
Read me about external overflows
You'll need a return pump to place in the pump to push water back up to the tank from the sump.
Read me about selecting a pump
You'll need to know about head loss, and some very basic plumbing terms, in addition to buying the appropriate tubing, hoses and pipe fittings to fabricate your water circulation system.
Read me for all that stuff

After browsing around and reading some of this information - come on back with some specific questions - people will be glad to help out Noobie !
