What is the tank going to be for? If a reef then you should have about 5 times turn over of your DT. That’s not including power heads...

I think typically you want your sump or fuge to be 1/3 the size of your DT, the larger the better if you are going reef or SPS tank. 55 would be fine, but 75 would be better if you are planning on using standard glass tank sizes.

Depends if you're talking about just a sump, or a sump/fuge combo. The sump can be any size you want it to be. As long as it can hold the equipment you want it too and has the additional room to handle the extra water when the return pump is off, it would do. There is no actual rule of thumb for a sump. However, for a fuge there is a general rule of thumb on size, but varies greatly depending on who you ask. For a fuge, personally I think the bigger the better. Flow would be dependent on what your overflow can handle and flow for a fuge would be dependent one both what the overflow can handle and on the fuge size.

no i havnt bought it yet. and i was planning on a sump fuge combo...
so im guessing thats not enough.. can i use like another tank and have them connected for the fuge?

Plumbing tanks together is where the fun comes in. If you have a crawlspace or basment you can string them throughout your house but still only maintain one water column.

He has a 220, you have a 125 with a 55gal sump. Since his is bigger, that doesn't mean that your sump would be ok for a bigger display tank. Now if your tank was a 220 and doing great with a 55 gal sump, then that would be a valid recommendation. But since his is MUCH larger, that doesn't mean it will be sufficient for sure.
