What do I need to set up a 29 gallon tank with live sand and live rock. I plan on housing a couple of clown fish and whatever else might be suggested. I assume I need a filter, skimmer, and lights. What would you suggest for someone who doesn't want to break the bank at this stage?

Not sure I'm going to start with corals. Never had salt water before and want to start pretty straight forward. As for a budget, I'm sure I can spend a ton but really don't want to go crazy. Thanks folks!

The red sea max has a 34 gallon set up which is very nice. It comes with t5 lighting which is alot better than power compacts. It has timers built into it/protein skimmer, pretty much everything. You can get it for about $550 if you search around. Google it and check it out.

I actually have a 29 has fancy goldfish that are moving to a 55. It was that kit so it's got a basic flourescent, basic heater, and a penguin 200 biowheel. For Fish and live rock do I need to upgrade the lighting??

No you won't. The lights are mainly for corals. That is the big ticket item so that will save you a ton of money.
