I am upgrading my lighting system and I bought 2x 55w compact fluorecents, one 10k and one actinic. I want to keep some "medium" to "high" light corals. My tank size is 29 gallons with 45lb of LR. I kinda have the option of placeing 2x 18 fluorecents in the light box but is it tight. If I put them in, then I'm worried about them producing too much heat and it being too bright. The lights will be in a 7.5 inch plexy glass enclosure with some vents. I am retro fitting it into my eclipse hood so the bulbs will be placed approx. 1inch from the surface of the water.
any suggestions are welcome!

2x55 watts isent going to have enuff light for "high" light corals, you have about 3.5 - 4 watts per gallon wich is ideal for softies; 6-10 watts is ideal for "high" light corals. but with all taht rock you got i suggest you stack em high and put the high light corals more shallow.
best of luck tho. :joy:
