oh yeah thats right! LFS guy said the water was perfecto and the algae is dissepating. i got two GIANT mexican turbo snails today aswell. 3 fairly large keloggi seahorses just finished acclimating and seem to love the tank. the biggest one was on a plant a second ago and looked over at me and as soon as he saw me he turned completely WHITE. it only lasted a minute but was he scared/happy/surprised? i've never seen one turn white so fast. it was like as soon as we were eye-to-eye.
the other two seem to be staying on one side of the tank atm.

All seahorses will change color, from change of surroundings, courting or for any good reason. My seahorses have been brown, white, silver and orange.

Congrats on the new additions!!!!!

I just found a WICKED cool LFS not too far from here and brought home a beautiful Tigertail & a almost pinkish one!!!

Good luck with them & cant wait to see pics!

I "think" its a femaole and she is just beautiful! She is VERY friendly and comes right to the side of the tank where I am to say "hi"
I will post pics tomorrow for ya!

Hey have u put an airline in ur tank yet? i decided to try it & my horses love it! I have an open end air tube in between a few of the rocks so the bubbles come out a few different ways and again they love it!!!! I saw Lisa tried it too!!!

so i'm gonna go find batteries. they seem to be ok, i just fed them some mysis spread throughout the tank soaked in garlic.

one of them isn't moving much...his coloring is fine but he is just kinda sitting on the grass not moving much...i don't have much hope at the moment. the others are completely fine tho, i have no idea why he is having any problem?

I was going to experiment with the bubbler on at night and off during the day, but my horses love the bubbles. They will dance in them for about 5 minutes then go to their favorite hitch and change colors. Then they go back in a couple of hours and do the same. I haven't the heart to turn it off. Mine goes all the way across the back so there is a screen of bubbles.
The only thing I don't like is the bubbles popping at the surface and spritzing my light shield. I have a film of salt on it now. I am going to stop in at a hardware store in the morning and see if they have an adjustable clamp so I can diminish the airflow slightly. The pump is for a 5 gallon, but the flow could aerate a 150 gallon.

ok....i have no idea whats going on. two horses are DOWN.
the other looks completely fine. it's swimming around and hanging out on my side of the tank and looks fine. the others just looked tired and then died.
it's not O2 there is plenty of surface agitation and a protien skimmer running 24/7. i got a emperor 280 filter in there aswell. the water parameters are fine according to the lfs guy who tested them the day i bought the horses. i've not messed with the water since.

Im so sorry.......I lost one of the 2 I got on Saturday, the lil one was dead when I got home from work tonight

The other 3 are perfectly fine....it must just be one of theose things

Pinky showed no interst in feeding last night or this morning where Tigerlily on the other hand is all over the tank looking for food.
Then the 2 I got from Tom & Terry (the owners of a lfs right down the rd) are doing fine as well.
Get this....I told them one of the 2 horse I bought a week b4 didnt make it and I wanted the one they had so I went to purchase it along with a few other things and they comped me on the lost horse at cash out

I was shocked but its nice to have friends in the business!

Like I said, it is one of those things that we just dont have the answer for.

there has to be something going on here. like rykna said people are loosing lots of horses. specially me

i got a huge filter, a protien skimmer, i feed them fine, i do everything right and they still die. something has gotta be going on!!!!!!!
the other one is fine tho still, still swimming all over the place.
and no...i didn't see them eating. but the one that is still alive seems to be hunting.
i'm not gonna buy anymore kelogi since nybutterfly mentioned poeple have trouble with them lately. i'll talk to my lfs, i may be able to get a refund since i just bought them. i'm gonna see if they can order like tigertails, erectus, something other then kelogi for me.
hmm..maby it's just the guy that they buy from isn't too good at breeding and there not too healthy when i bought them? idk, i know the lfs definatly takes great care of everything but i just now thought about maby the person behind it all that first breed the horse.
i'll talk to them about getting other horses. my parents are starting to wish they didn't get into this, it's starting to annoy there pockets

Zeke, Rykna and I think there is something going on before the ship to us or the LFS's as well. We were chatting about it the other day.
The quality of the horse prolly has a LOT to do with how they do when we get them. Not to mention how many LFS's DONT know how to care for horses properly??? KWIM
Dont be too hard on yourself, I think the stress of all the transporting has a lot to do with it too.
Like I said, my other three are fine, like yours.......I dont know if we are all missing something besides that

well my lfs is great. i hate to brag about it but i don't think it could get any better, unless it got a display shark

they can answer any and every question i ask about any fish there including the horses, they take care of them great where i get them. so i guess the only thing, atleast in my possition, is where there coming from BEFORE the LFS.
i'm gonna try to get 1 horse atleast thats a different type then kelogi from a different guy then where they are buying from and see what happens. i try not to stress them to much when i take them home and use stress coat, although not sure if it helps much on saltwater fish as complex as a seahorse.
