In the past 3 months, I've set up a reef aquariun and have some questions. I have a 55 gal tank with 45# of rock that i cured for 3 weeks before adding to tank with live sand. I have 5 small fishes that are doing great. Over a period of the last 6 weeks I added 5 soft corals, 6-snails, 6-hermit crabs, 1-star, 2-anemonys(sp), 1- atlantic cucumber, 1-matrix crab, 3 peppermint shrimp. Everyone looks good and healthy. How do i rid the green algae from forming a very thin film on the glass every day which i remove with a magnet cleaner thing. And whenever I call Dr's Foster and Smith Live Aquaria help line I get a different person who always has a different answer from the person before about what I should be feeding all my stuff??? Right now I feed the 5 fish (clown and damsels) flake food, the serpent star, anemonies and peppermint shrimp get frozen shrimp and the soft corals get some liquid plankton (Zooplex at 2 tsp's every 3 days) and occassionally a disolved brine shrimp cube trickled out over the corals and occassionally an algae wafer which sinks to the bottom for the hermits. My ammonia is at 0 and nitrites are at .10 (sometimes 0). AM I DOING IT RIGHT??? And where should I go from here? (sorry for being so wordy)

it seems fine to me
the only thing that iw ould do differently would be to get another type of food for the fish. what type are you feeding now? it is always good to alternate though to make sure that the fish get a balanced diet.
i do not believe that you need to put in food just for your pepermint shrimp. your fish eat this too i assume? Get some type of frozen food like formula one, all your fish (formula 2 for herbavours) and shrimps will be able to eat that.
but if it is working out for you now, and all your levels are perfect, then you probably dont need to change.
can we get a pic? :)
