Is there any type of urchin that is reef safe. The urchins on this site they say are reef safe. I have my doubts, from what I here.
Also, I have a large brittle star, is there any other stars that I can keep with it?
Has anyone ordered a colt coral from here? If so, were you pleased?

i can only help with the first question
urchins are reef safe, as far as i know. They eat algae, BUT are like bulldozers,. They will eat coraline, adn they will also knock over rock work while jsut trying to getthrough., So they are not safe for your coraline or the stability of ryour rock unless it is all epoxied together.
they also have a habit of chewing through wire while eating coraline off of it, so if you are gonna have them, i would have only external pumps in use

I have two black long spined urchins that hitched along with my lr. They are pretty large and on occasion do knock over a coral but so far haven't done any damage. They have been in my tank for over 6 months and I was close to getting rid of them because of their reputation but grew attached. They have eaten some coraline off the live rocks but instead of it diminishing in my tank I've had the opposite. It might be that when they feed on the coraline they are also spreading it around the tank. As far as I can tell they do not feed on coraline alone but also scavenge. In my short experience with sw reef tanks it is a benifit to have diversity among the inhabitants in a reef. Scavengers of all types will help control any remaining food throughout the tank.
I also have a large brittle star that shares the tank with 2-3 banded starfish(hitchers). They remain apart from eachother and have only crossed paths once briefly. They too have been in my tank for over 6 months and help with keeping the tank clean.
