I am going to be stocking a 300 gallon aggressive set-up. The tank is in my game room which is "Pittsburgh Steeler" themed so everything is black and gold, as will be the fish. Here is the stocking list I am looking into at the moment. Any suggestions or comments are welcome, anyone forsee any problems with this mix in a 300 gallon?
1 golden moray
1 clown trigger
1 golden puffer
1 yellow cowfish
3 black and white heniochous
1 French Angel or Emporer Angel
and possibly a yellow Anglerfish.
Thats what I am considering at the moment.

i love banded cat sharks!! they have very nice colors, and they will be perfect in a 300.
I wouldn't chance a cat shark with triggers, puffers, and angels

the main things i am worried about are the anglergish and the eel. Anyone have experience with the anglers with other agressive fish. how about feeding?

A Steelers tank?! I have never heard of anyone theme-ing their tank after a football team...you must be some kind fan!
Since you have a massive tank...why not consider a tesselata, too?! They are DARK brown (looks black) and gold and are the most spectacular eels around!

I think it is probably best to drop the Anglerfish. SO is it ok to have 2 different eels in one tank? Maybe I will give that a shot. Thanks for the input. I am going to try to stay around 7-8 large fish in the 300 gallon. I will post pics of the tank and the room when it is all completed. It won't be for several months however.

From what I understand I don't think the yellow cowfish would do well in that setup. They are pretty slow movers, and would have a difficult time eating. I've tried keeping an angel in my 240 aggressive, but keep in mind you have to keep the water quality up for the angel, and thats tough in an aggressive tank. Also keep in mind that clown triggers become very aggressive, and have been known to turn on their tank mates after years of living together, and kill everything else in the tank.
A couple of other options for fish would be groupers, wrasse, and puffers. Maybe a more docile trigger.

Right now I am looking at the following fish:
1 golden moray
1 clown trigger
1 golden puffer
1 yellow cowfish
3 black and white heniochous
but would like to add one more... it needs to be black or yellow in color to go with the theme and mesh well with the other fish.. any suggestions?

First, that golden grouper is beautiful, what do they usually go for?
My thoughts on your tankmates:
A tank that size will allow for some big personalities. A clown trigger could do well in there, but keep in mind, they have a tendancy to display a "Jekyll and Hyde" personality.
Golden Morays are nice eels, Tesselata's are great eels too (they can be quite aggressive though. Fish eating eels)
As for the Cowfish, I think you should probably steer clear of one. They do not compete well for food and It sounds like quite a competitive environment.
Heniochous's are a beautiful schooling fish for big tanks. Sometimes their top fin will get chomped in an aggressive tank.
A Golden Puffer is a great choice for that size of aquarium. Keep in mind however, Puffers have been rumored not to mix well with Box / Cow fish. I posted not too long ago posing this question, I didn't get a very good response back.
I suggest a grouper, large angelfish, different triggers, pork puffer, or wrasses.

OK, Cowfish out, Golden Grouper in.. thanks for the help. I have had a Clown trigger in the past with puffers, triggers, gropers, and lionfish and didnt have any bad experiences. This will be my first go with an eel though. How big do those golden groupers get? Is it ok to have 2 eels? Any suggestions for an eel that stays somewhat smaller and is black in color?

when i comes to the cowfish i dont know how he will react with the other fish. Eventhough they are slow swimmers when u drop food in there he will fish other fish to get it. They are very clumsy swimmers and when it comes to powerheads it is really dangouras for them. Mine was happy for a very long time he got stuck in the powerhead i took him out quikly so it suvived 2 weeks later i find him there in the same place and he was there too long and 6 days later passed away.
