Howdy And Welcome!
Chaeto Is Usedin A Refugium To Absorb Excess Phosphates And Nitrates To Keep Your Tank Clear Of Undesirable Algae. It Is Also Used To Provide A Good Nursery Area To Raise Pods For Your Fish To Eat!

It means (in my opinion)
You will find a complete list of abbreviations if you go to the top thread under New Hobbyist, the first thread is "A List of Extremely Helpful threads for all hobbyists" and the first one is Abbreviations and Acronym meanings.
Good luck, these boards are a lot of fun, and you will learn alot.

the chaetomorpha algae will consume a few things for your aquarium and ultimately reduce your nitrates as well as your phosphates.. it also gives mysis shrimp a place to breed (happens quite often).. if you have a refugium, it is a GREAT idea to use chaetomorpha because it WILL NOT attach itself to your rocks or anything else and is easily trimmed and removed.. you can even sell or give away the extra that you trim off ;)

We have a hangon skimmer in our 55g and no sump. Until I get one, I have cheato in the bubble trap in our skimmer and so far it's done good. We do have an extra filter in our setup and that's a fluidized sand bed filter.
