we have one. Its my fiance's main car. We also have a xterra- which is what I drive.
He loves this car... but I need a larger vehicle to be happy. Ours is a 6spd 2006 enthusiast model. Its fun to drive and turns alot of heads.

I work for nissan and they are real nice cars and fun to drive. If you can wait i would hold off for a year. Nissan is putting out the 370z i have driven one and there is a big difference in power. Just the boost the car needed.

I had an 06 and it was fun (at first), but I traded it for a 07 Tacoma after four months. i just didn't like it as much as the 05 Tacoma I traded for it, so I went and got another Tacoma.

I've driven one before, didnt impress me. Id rather spend less on a used an throw some money in it to make it better (mostly suspension work).
but if you are just looking for a commuter car of sorts, it works perfect for that.

Here is my personal review from someone that actually owns one......and first off ,u kidding me? a comuter car? ok , gas mileage avg in 23 mpg, doesnt make a comuter car and neither does the practicality of driving a car like this year round (if living in a changing seasons place.) also its really nice with cornering. The suspension, obviously things could be tweaked but for a sports car, it handles better turn than most cars ive seen. Also, its quick but id say it could be quicker, the lower end of speeds dont reeally impress me, but its perky. The real power comes off int eh top speed, where it feels the urge to go harder and harder. I bought mine used and dont feel the need to touch it. its a collecters car, so if you take good care of it, you can very well get a good chunk back when u do decide to get rid of it.. one issue would be road noise and comfort. You feel every bump but isnt that what a sports car is supposed to be like? The ******** makes u feel like ur strapped into a lotus elise, with high windows and bucket seats that wrap you into the car. The sound system is of good quality with 2 tweaters and 4 mids, with a nice sub behind the driver seat. The storage is different in teh fact that there is no glove compartment, but there is a storage behind teh passenger which can be a pain to get to, along with two d holders above that. The car does pose some really bad blind spots. The rear window is angled just right so that the z emblem gets a nice glare in sunlight into your eyes, also another blind spot behin your head at 7 and 4 o'clock. The exhaust system is really amazing i think and the car sounds mean. all in all, its a good bang for your buck, and its a beautiful car.

It does handle well (excellent handeling actually) and has a lot of power for something that small, but it's a piggy (weight was over 3k). the pre 06 models needed more tourque (not to mention that a few of the years have a horrible oil consumption problem). I had an 06 and it was great, but a noticable difference to the 07 in terms of power. plus the 07 is dual air induction. If you get one I would suggest a plenum spacer and maybe even a whole new upper and lower plenum. but the spacer will add a noticable difference. You'll get much more air in there for a nice little power boost. our you could go with a turbo or two. they are fun little cars, but mine sat in the garrage 5 or 6 days a week and I missed having a truck. My wife has an SUV, but somtimes you just need a truck. It's not terrible on long trips, my wife and I made a 1600 mile round trip in it once and the only real complaint was storage and not being able to see around any car in front of you. They are fun, but I'd spen a little more and go with an EVO if I had to do it over again.

anyone having the issue with the oil burning engines?
I guess there is some issue with the 06 burning oil like crazy and they are replacing the engines in these cars.
Ours has already been to the dealer to document this problem and they will probably replace the engine.... I heard that sometimes you can get them to throw in the 07 engine rather than replace it with the 06.
Some sort of on-the-down-low recall with the engine. But they arent recalling, just waiting for people to bring in the vehicles if they experience "oil burning" or "abnormally low oil levels"

The issue is that only the 6 speed cars are using oil. The only reason they use oil is that they are reved higher than an auto and much more often. Nissan went with a low tension rings in the engine so that they can free up more power with less friction. This is the changed parts in the engine with a few other little things. You can not have the newer engine installed due to the fact you would need a new engine harness and a ecm due to different sensors.

If it was me, (don't think it'd ever be, but for the sake of agrument), I'd probably try to swing the G35/G37 instead. Same car with a far better ******** and the G37 actually got updated. Or just wait till next year, 3 little letters, GT-R

id say IMO that the G35 does not have the sports car feel, but instead boast a luxury/sporty feel.......... when it comes to feeling like your driving a sports car, the Z has the 2 seats only instead of 4 and it wraps u into the car, althought the G has better ******** , who cares when ur driving a sports car.....the z has a good ******** and yes i would agree though that the G has a better ********

Depending on where you look the G35 has higher handling numbers then the Z. Toss a set of coilovers and some rims and you'll be better off then with a Z. Not to mention you'll still have something in terms of resale, when everyone is trying to snatch up GT-Rs and Z's are sitting on lots...
