I am always adding water about everyother day. I but in about about 3cups. there are no leaks anywhere. Is this normal for the water to evaporate this fast?

+1 its norm....i add about half gal between my two tanks every day....i try to top it off twice a day. Once when i get home from work and before i go to work in the morning!
Evap is normal and happens a lot spec if ur tank is open topped!

I have 100% of my tank covered lol.
On my 72g + 20-30 something g sump, I run out about a gallon a day.

soooo u have a glass top with the back plastic piece off? imo not enough gas exchange from that! Try eggcrate with the middle part cutout for the light....u can get eggcrate at like home depot or lowes in the lighting section....i think its actually used for light difussion!

When replacing the water I will be using RO water , do I have to add any salt to it?
And its alright to cover the top complety
I have just plain tap water in it right now , I just want to make sure all is running right before I MT it.

Top off should be just plain RO, unsalted most of the time. The only time you should add salt is if your salinity is a little low and you're trying to raise it slowly/safely.
