i just bought a used tank from a couple that broke there reef down because they were having trouble with there light and just couldnt get things together with it and pretty much gave it away. it came with a tek light mounted in the canopy and i started cleaning it nd trying to figure out whats going on, it onl had two bulbs in it so i fired up those and they worked, but the ( i believe its called an endcap) end cap to one of the bulbs was pretty much melted, i took the bulb out and the end cap fell apart into 6 pieces, i want to swap it out but i dont really want to get in there messing with things and mess everything up. so if i could get a little direction i would greatly appreciate it
what i was thinking i need to do is take the end piece off the light and that would expose the wiring on that side and i can ( hopefully ) just pop the bad one out and put a good one in. does that sound like im on the right track? i pretty much know nothing about how the lights work and i really dont want to mess it up but i would really like to fix it and not junk it

I've got no experience with those particular lights, but replacing an endcap should be an easy job as long as you can find a similar or identical replacement. The manufacturer may be able to send you a replacement endcap if you can't find one that fits.
As far as taking it apart... it's like taking anything else apart. Note where screws go, go slow, and it should come apart and go back together without much trouble.
