40 GALLON BREEDER TANK LIGHTING

HELLO,

JUST JOINED THE FORUM AND IM CURIOUS WHAT LIGHTING WOULD BE RECOMENDED FOR A 40 GALLON BREEDER TANK I WILL HAVE ABOUT 40 LBS OF LIVE ROCK AND HAVE MOSTLY LPS MAY LOOK INTO SOME SPS. I HAVE LOOKED AT A FEW DIFFERENT LIGHTS AS I AM TRYING TO STAY LED ON THE TANK (NOT FOR ANY REASON EXCEPT POWER SAVING) =. I AM TRYING TO GET SOME ADVICE AND MAYBE WHAT YOU HAVE USED OR ARE CURRENTLY USING AND HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THE LIGHT AND PERFORMANCE.

THANK YOU

Yes. If LPS was my plan in that tank I'd have gone with 2 Kessil a160s only. I wanted an anemone so I needed at least a part of the tank that was very high light. I may get another a360 in a few months. I have 160s in my 125 and mostly LPS and zoas/palys that do great.

The 40g breeders are pretty easy since they're shallow. You could use just about anything from a decent 6 bulb t5 fixture to a high powered led fixture like Aqua Illumination Hydra or the Kessils etc.

Or combination like mentioned above.
