40 Gallon Filtration Question For FOWLR

I am looking to setup a simple 40 gallon FOWLR tank. It will not have a heavy bioload. Just curious on what filter setup. Leaning towards a Canister as opposed to a Sump unless people with experience say its a no no. Looking for 2 clowns and a clean up crew. Basic and simple. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Any brand recommendations ????

IMO in this hobby you start out in one direction and the bug bites you big time so i would go with a sump

Thanks for the reply. Tiny apartment in Queens and not much room for growth :-( Not moving any time soon.

I know what you mean had a GF on gun hill road a 40 g will give you room under the stand for a sump Just my .02
