This was my tank when i first converted my freshwater tank to a saltwater one. at this time i only had my old freshwater bio wheel filter as filteration with 2 medium sized pieces of live rock along with a heater. my lighting fixture that i got for it was a cheap coral life 96 watt light fixture. and for water movement i had a koralia 1.

then this was my tank after 4 months. at this point i added another powerhead which was a koralia 3, took off the bio wheel filter and added a ecosystem pro 60 hang on back refugium, that came with a built in back pack protein skimmer. so i moved my one heater in there so it was not in plain view. i also added some purple and tan xiena as my first coral along with some orange feather dusters, that wouldent last long. and as for fish i had one yellow wrasse and 3 chromies. so here are some more pics of the tank after 4 months...


then i changed up the rock work the next month so this is the tank at 5 months (then i added some Green star polyps and some mushroom rocks)

so at some point during these 5 months i added a flame angel that i ended up keeping for about 4 months but found out he was picking at some of my corals so he had to go, here are some pictures of it...




and these are some pictures of my yellow wrasse which i still have...

this was my tank at like about 6 months

then this was my tank at about 8 months with my new nova extreme pro fixture i bought for it which gives my about 235 wats of light.

40 gallon Reef- One Yellow Wrasse, 2 Chromis, Hermits, Snails, one Sand Sifting Tiger Starfish, one fighting conch, and Corals- one frogs span coral, one Green striped and purple mushroom rock, one orange mushroom frag, purple glove xenia, Tan xienia, 2 differnt types of green star polyps, one Cynarina coral, , one Fox coarl, one button polyp rock one plate coral, one yellow scroll coral, one Big Orange Montipora capricornis, and one 2 mouthed Orange Ricordea Mushroom.
And right now i am in the process of getting rid of the hang on back refugium i have and upgrading that to a 20 gallon high sump and a Asm protein skimmer.

I have a running CA reactor.

speaking of coralline growth ever since i got my CA reacotr and stopped doseing B ioic i have NO MORE ???? i dont care i mean it looked nice but its stoped growing o and my CA is at 500 CANT LOWER IT any more cause i have such a small tank if i lower the drips any more it stops haha so until i add more coral i cant lower it. i also have a couple of rare monitpra frags that i am waiting to grow out, i want to have a monti and zoanthid tank, with ricordia

wow really ? THANK YOU SO MUCH that means alot i put alot of work into it but i dont think its anything special YET and monys always tight since i am only 16 haha so since i can only work one day a week since i have school its a slow process

wow man im amazed! well congrats! being 16 same as me. i will do the same to my tank but since im with my gf and shes like you waste more money on the tank then on me i had to stop. lol
you know how girls get. yea i know how it feels. and things are tight since i got lots of paper work to do and to get ready to get my class ring! Class of 2010! woohoo! well man your reef is really amazing man! im glad you take really good care of it! and you live in miami as well? thats cool we can do some trade! i attend coral gables senior high

sweet? dident look at that i go to columbus high well thats cool do you have an email or something we can trade and meet up or something , business has been bad with me with girls since i go to an all freking guy school hahaha
