45 Gallon

I love this site! My tank is nearing three months now.
I have an emperor 280 hang-on filter, a heater and a
penguin 1140 powerhead. There are 40 lbs LR, 10 lbs LS,
and ~38 lbs aragonite sand. Clean-up crew includes
10 turbos (6 red-footed), 26 hermits of varying sizes,
2 sand-sifting stars, and 2 camelback shrimp.
I added foxface and rose anemone exactly two weeks ago.
My gold stripe maroon has grown more than an inch since
I added him!
I welcome suggestions. :happyfish
My anemone spends a good 2-3 hours each day pulled in.
I wonder if he might like the temp cooler than 78F.

I like yer rock set up. Nicey nice. Cool fish too. The anemone will not tolerate any waste, and make sure that you have very powerful lights for anemones, they need at the very least power compact lighting, and sometimes THAT doesnt cut the mustard. A hang on filter isnt usually the way to go with saltwater tanks, but at least get yourself a hang on protein skimmer, cuz you will definitely need that. It will remove wastes and keep the water clean. Possibly later on switch out the hang on filter for a hang on wetdry filter. Ask questions about the items later on. You'll need this stuff though, or else yer animals will not survive.
Atleast, not the foxface and the anemone. Well, good bye

I love your rocks! I wish I had some pieces like those long skinny looking ones. Good job! ( i love to pick out rocks! LOL, almost as much as fish!)

Magic, do you have a fuge setup? If so, what size
and what do you have in there? I'm a fan of the
"less technology, more biology" approach. I think
natural is the way to go.

You have a fuge, dont you? Something like that could help. Extra rock, whatever. I wouldn't trust myself with just natural filtration, I know I would skrew something up. At least grab some powerful lights, though. That anemone needs em, and thats a nice one too. Actinics might not be enough juice, ya know? And yea, carp says, it might die. I say it will. Sorry, I tired anemones once, they are tought and expensive to keep. You need the right everything, lol. Well, have a good one.

Go to the Chandler's tank thread, and you can see his tank. I don't think they are that huge, and he has a 55 gallon anyway, his refugium is a 30 gallon. Thats like a place where the water runs, like a tank bleow the show tank, which is stuffed with live rock for natural filtration. Plus substrate and plants, and you've got one good filter ;)
