Here she is at 1 year and a few months old! After having no sump for this long and the tank doing so good I dont think I will every put one in.

The Tang has grown pretty fast in the few months I have had him so I know I will have to find him a home here in the end of the year.

The copperband is doing fantastic and is eating mussels and Instant Ocean CyclopEez gel

I have a 90g and I have never used a sump system. Not with my 55g nor my 75g. I use canister filters. So if you are not using a sump…what are you using?

a Aqua Clear hang on back filter which does a good job but I have a skimmer rated for 200 gallons and I also put 150 nassarius snails in there. Im thinking about up grading to a canister for more area to catch stuff. I poof the rocks with a turkey baster and then do a water change but I notice alot of stuff acumulating on the rocks so I will probably have to get a canister soon so I dont have to do the turkey baster thing every few weeks.

A power head pointed at the rght angle is all you need to do. Maybe buy another one if you must. Instead of a canister buy some more corals...your tank looks GREAT!

Thanks

Yea I have the water moving in a perfect circle and noticed some acumulation right under the power head on the rock in the back where it slows down so I will probably have to add something.
Im kinda worried because the coral that does not like alot of flow is in a perfect spot and when I change the powerhead around they get whipped around pretty bad so I will probably have to go with something smaller

Nope but he might be bugging the trumpet coral because its not poofy like it used to be but I could be wrong.
He eats Instant Ocean Cylpeez gel and Indo Pacific Mussels on the half shell. The tangs LOVE the mussel too especially the hippo

I understand if you want to keep things low for a certain coral, if it isn’t broke don’t fix it. Keeping our critters alive is what it’s all about after all. I would just keep doing the turkey baster blaster thing. The only thing a canister could add is a spray bar so a power head would be freed up to aim someplace besides the surface. That would just give you the same undesirable effect on delicate coral.
Hey when what you’re doing is working…just keep it up.

Thanks!
I try to keep a good amount of sand in the front of the tank but the engineer goby likes to spit it into the back of the tank so I have about 3'' of sand in the back and 1'' in the front

The turkey baster thing really help out alot. Speaking of that I have some water cycling right now as I need to do some basting today
