5 Gallon Chaeto Bucket And Lots Of Bubbles

My tank is drilled and I have a 1" line where the water makes its first stop at a 5 gallon bucket where my chaeto is. The line "T's" into a durso style pipe where it is discharged into the bucket (the pipe goes to the bottom of the bucket with a 90 degree elbow on the end). My hopes were that the air bubbles would rise up and out of the pipe, but many of them still get sucked down into the bucket. Of course the bubbles are leading to salt all over the sides of the bucket and the light that is over it. What are some tips and ideas that y'all have used to solve this problem? Thanks for you help!

For anyone interested, I haven't been able to find a way to make the bubbles go away, but I did find a way to catch them. I cut the top part of a 2 liter bottle off and super glued it to a piece of 1" pvc. I placed the "dome" over the area where the bubbles were rising up from and it carried the bubbles out of the bucket without all the splatter. Not exactly the fix I was looking for, but so far it seems to be doing the job and I won't have to deal with the salt creep issues.
