5 gallon project - Need advice!

So I decieded to build a nice little tank for work, both for fun and I wanted the challenge of trying my first tank building project. Heres what I have so far...
I built anacrylic tank that is 30" long x 6" x 6" (see pics) and I have water and live sand in there now... What I plan to do is to get two rios, the smallest they sell and place them in the two bottom back corners (maybe upside down or sideways so that the intake is not "in the sand") facing each other with a a PVC pipe running between them. The drill four equdistance holes in the pvc for the out takes creating flow from the back wall. The idea is to hide the tubing with a nice litlle wall of live rock down the middle. The lighting I'm currently looking for will be 65w pc strip that will set the usual 3-4" off the water surface. I dont know that i'll need a heater, as I think my only hurdle here is the heat created by the lighting, maybe a cooling fan will have to be installed in the canopy. They'll be a canopy build and a base once once the lights are purchased. I dont think I'll need a sump or filtertration, thinking the live rock will be enough.
The idea has shifted from a work tank to just a at home tank that I will grow corals/frags in and maybe just keep a damsel in to start the cycling proces.
Does this sound feasable and what issues do you guys see coming up or being a problem?
Thanks in advanced!

since these photos I added a back small chamber and cant get it to stop leaking at the bottom. I have run out of weldon 16, but still have #4 left. Can I continue to add #4 to the seems in hopes of it dripping into the cracks? or will ordering 16 be the route to take? or maybe a third method?

Nice little tank. My advice a t5 strip being shallow you can go cheaper. #4's the thick stuff right? Ever reseam a glass tank with silicone? Should work about the same. keep in mind if the lights not on at night there will be temp fluctuations. A small heater would still be advised to help keep the temps stable. If only really on at night. If you stock more than just a tiny bit water changes and the liverock should be enough BUT a small cheap back filter will lessen the need and help with flow.

I would think you would need a heater. I think the smaller the volume of water and with it being dispersed like that wouldn't change temperature faster. Of course the lights would heat it but at night when temp drops the water would cool fairly fast....

good deal... hope you get the leak fixed. Great stand and canopy. Looks like a 90gal! Cool project.

I agree with nothing in the pic for size reference you could add something and make it look like a monster.
Nice build.

DO NOT USE. Those (if its what i think it is) can actually over heat a tank. Get one with a thermostat that you can adjust.

Dude I was waiting for pics. Awesome project. You got me wanting to take something on like that for fun. Keep the thread updated. Kind of funny it looks huge and then the pic with it under the window show the perspective. Super cool man...

I am actually thinking about building my own tank here shortly. I really like ReefForBrains round nano design! That is a great looking tank, you could label it as a huge tank and nobody would know the difference. The only way I could tell is the "jets" in the back are really big after you notice its a small tank
keep it up man, looks awesome!
