I have a question about my 40 gal plenium/w mud mini tank.
the bottom has three layers of egg crate = 1.2" then fiberglass mesh (bug screen) then 2" of crushed florida coral, then more fiberglass mesh, 2.5" of live sand. i have three very active and large hermits keeping it clean they are doing well. in the middle of this sump tank i suppended a glass box sealed with silcone 12" wide 16" long and 7" high, in this box i put m/mud 2.25" thick with 1/2" of livesand on top one live rock with culupra green. full spectrum 2/ 24" flor lights. the lights i leave on 48hrs on 12 hrs off 48 on. is it ok to live the light on 24/7 or will those crazy hermits go nuts with all the lights on constantly? I cant seem to tell if they care if the lights are on all the time. And should i drain any of the water from below the crushed coral periodically like i have read other people doing? Is it really important to do that? Any help would be great!
