50/50 bulbs

Welcome to the boards.
Yes, most 50/50 bulbs provide a good spectrum for coral growth. What kind of bulb is it? Standard fluorescent bulbs cannot sustain coral.

they are 50/50 6000 k actinic coral life but i was thinking about getting a light made by current just so i feel more comfortable

Those are power-compacts (PC). They work fine for softies and most hard corals (LPS but not SPS). They also cannot support clams or anemones.
Depending on how big you tank is they should work fine. If it's not too late you may want to look into T5ho. They offer more light for comparable wattage, are cheaper to run, and allow you to keep more.
