I am using a 500 watt halogen work lamp from HD for my 20 gal. fuge that has 4" DSB, couple pieces of LR, and Grape caulerpa. Will this light work for growing caulerpa? Before I had 1- 20 watt actinic, and 1- 20 watt reg cool white bulbs on there. The caulerpa was growing, but barley. There was more turning white then there was growing.

When calpurna dies it turns white. It does release calcium into the water when it dies. I would ditch the lights. 500watts is a lot of waste of energy consumption.

If your looking to keep it cheap.. The HD agro-lights work just fine... you can get a 75 watt for about 4 bucks I believe.
