Do I need a skimmer on a fish only tank if so what type ?

I wouldnt think so but it is still an added bonus to have one. It wouldnt take mutch for a fish only I think a bakpak would be good.

skimmers should be used on any saltwater tank,it does exactly what it says,picture a swiming pool

I'd use a skimmer no mater what you have in the tank. You are going to need the flow anyways, so the turnover mights as well kill two birds with one stone and remove some contaminants while it is circulating the water.
Saltwater is heavy enough to where even minute amounts of contaminants will float to the top of a skimmer.
