55 Gal Sump

I wanna add a sump to my 55 gallon tank. After researching the size that I should have and all that I settled on a 20 Gal Long tank to use for the sump. Went and bought the tank, got it home and was all set to start on my baffles. Thought that purhapse I should dry fit it beneath my tank and its an inch to wide for my stand. Any suggestions? (I've thought about building my own, but have had bad experiences in the past trying to get acrylic to do what I want.)

Have you looked at rubbermaid containers as well?.....I would opt to build out of acrylic....acrylic is super easy to work with....the key is good clean edges which means prep work of your gluing joints(ends).

How wide is your aquarium stand? I just solved this issue with mine.
