I am trying to convert my 55 gallon freshwater tank to saltwater. So far I have declorinated the water, mixed the salt to the right salinity and ph and added some buffer. I also put in 5lbs of fiji premium cured live rock (planning on adding 50lbs more in the near future) and some microbe-lift special blend bacteria to help with the cycle. I am also puting 60lbs of fiji live sand in there. Currently I have a Penguin Biowheel 350 from my old freshwater setup running on the tank (what is the deal with ppl taking the biowheels out?). I also have a D&D Marine Typhoon skimmer which i havent hooked up yet because I heard you need to wait until your tank is cycled. I am planning on putting in either volatin or radiata lionfish, a barred moray eel, and a porcupine puffer. Are these fish compatible? Do I have adequate filtration? I know all these fish will require a larger aquarium than a 55 gallon but I plan on buying all of them as juveniles and plan to upgrade my tank to a 90-125 gallon when I move out of my apartment in a year. Will this work?
Thanks,
Paul

I do not recommend buying larger fish until you have a larger set up. Definately wait on the lion. Eels do not grow too quickly if you feed them twice a week. A tank does not only have to cycle, it has many stages after that. You will get a diatom algae bloom. You can get the eel, but hold off on others until you have the larger tank.

Might want to look into an Antennata Lionfish; not quite as easy as a Volitan, but very attractive and smaller. Great, under-rated fish, IMO.
