I've had some difficulties getting to this point but am finally able start adding water to my set-up and check for leaks before progressing. Here are the first shots of the closed loop in action. Its run with a Dolphin amp master 4800 pump through an oceans motions 4-way diverter, switching the flow through 4 tank returns in each corner. A second Dolphin 4800 pump is running through tha 140 gallon sump/refugium which will house the heaters and skimmer.
The C/L drains are in the middle of the live rock piles to pull water through the rocks to eliminate dead spots. The sump pump will drain w/ Durso stand pipes from the overflow boxes. I'll be creating man-made live rocks to camoflage the white returns at the bottom front of the tank. Both systems are plumbed with 1 1/2 inch pvc with some spa-flex used to make the plumbing more flexable.
Anyhow, here's the first shots with water.

It will be a LPS and softy reef tank with a few fish for entertainment.
I don't plan on making my own rock except to hide the inlets.
Livestock posibilities:
3 schooling henniocious butterflyfish
3 blue hippo tangs
school of 9 green chromis
blue spotted jawfish
firefish
A medium sized clean-up crew will be in place for maintenance.

I'm curious what a medium sized cleanup crew for a 580 tank would be. 200 hermits instead of 500?

Here's a pic of my Henni's from my 300 gallon setup. So I am aware of the problems they can cause with corals. One of mine decimated all my polyps after a couple months in the tank. I still think the upside of having such beautiful fish outweighs the possibility of not keeping zoo's.
I will have:
200 or so assorted hermits
75 each turbos and astrea snails
a few conches for the substrate
I keep the "glass" (acrylic) clean myself with mag floats.
Pics of the setup will come later when I'm finished with the set-up.
The seals on my old dolphin pump were coroded and dried out from sitting in the garage the last few months, so it's been shipped back to dolphin to have a new long-life seal installed. I should have it back and get everything running in a couple of weeks.
