65 Watt Pc's On Glass Top, Or Higher Up?

I have 2- 65 watt Power compacts on my 150 gal. FOWLR. Right now the canopy with the lights in it just sits on top of the tank above the glass tops. Should I leave them there, or raise them off the glass tops, and if so, how high?

are the lights effecting the temp of the tank? if not I would leave them, mine were too hot and heated up the tank, I put them in a canopy about 7" above the water on both of my tanks.

When I had striplights I had them set simply on top of the glass, because I coulnd't really mount them in the canopy, but I now have a full system on the way, and plan on mounting it. IMO, if the temp isn't affected by it, then it's all a matter of preference.

On my tank I have a pc strip I just set on the glass. There is no difference in temp to the tank since theres glass there. IMO, the closer you can get them to the water the better in a reef anyway. FOWLR may not make much difference though.
