1. I think my Clarkii are showing signs of wanting to spawn, I was told it wouldn't be successful in the community tank so I moved them to a 55 with only one 7" Lion.
2. "Why do you expend so much work on keeping corals? They don't DO anything!"
3.If you don't want algae growing on your reef, wouldn't adding a little Clorox to the tank stop it?
4. I once mentioned to a houseguest that if I could do it all over again I'd have set up my 670 gal. reef system in a different part of the house. Her response?
"You're right it would look great in here. Why don't Donna and I clear out the furniture while you and Charlie carry it in here?"
5. I was cleaning some red slime from live rock with a soft toothbrush in a 5 gal. bucket. The same woman asked me why I didn't just run them through the dishwasher. That's what her husband does with his guns.
6. "What happens when you go away? Do they have kennels for fish?"
7. And finally I might as well poke fun at myself...
When I was first setting up my reef I announced in this forum my intention to: put in the aragonite, let it settle, cycle the water, add LR to the sump, not the tank, add 6-8 large Yellow Tangs and one blond unclothed model for some photos of my new tank in my new office! I even found a spandex mermaid's tail online.
The response was almost universally negative, except for a few e-mails from folk wanting to buy the pix.
I didn't do it, mainly because of fear of scratching the acrylic. My favorite response, however, was from a member who wrote something to the effect of "That's a horrible idea and it would be extraordinarily dangerous for the model since the school of surgeonfish would attack her and cut her up with their barbs!"
'STRUTH!
