It's funny. I have heard people ask some of these things in a fish store.
I also love when people refer to corals as "plant things" and as "decorations".

Oh yeah, I once had someone come in and ask to buy a clownfish. I asked what sized tank they had and what all was in it. She told me about her freshwater fish. I said, "no, this is a saltwater fish." She said, " So what, I put some aquarium salt in for him?"

So, why don't you have any fish yet? (This asked 2 days after I set up my tank.) ;)
I'm considering telling my coworkers that I don't like fish and I just want to look at the water until my tank cycles! ;)

1. I think my Clarkii are showing signs of wanting to spawn, I was told it wouldn't be successful in the community tank so I moved them to a 55 with only one 7" Lion.
2. "Why do you expend so much work on keeping corals? They don't DO anything!"
3.If you don't want algae growing on your reef, wouldn't adding a little Clorox to the tank stop it?
4. I once mentioned to a houseguest that if I could do it all over again I'd have set up my 670 gal. reef system in a different part of the house. Her response?

"You're right it would look great in here. Why don't Donna and I clear out the furniture while you and Charlie carry it in here?"
5. I was cleaning some red slime from live rock with a soft toothbrush in a 5 gal. bucket. The same woman asked me why I didn't just run them through the dishwasher. That's what her husband does with his guns.
6. "What happens when you go away? Do they have kennels for fish?"

7. And finally I might as well poke fun at myself...

When I was first setting up my reef I announced in this forum my intention to: put in the aragonite, let it settle, cycle the water, add LR to the sump, not the tank, add 6-8 large Yellow Tangs and one blond unclothed model for some photos of my new tank in my new office! I even found a spandex mermaid's tail online.
The response was almost universally negative, except for a few e-mails from folk wanting to buy the pix.
I didn't do it, mainly because of fear of scratching the acrylic. My favorite response, however, was from a member who wrote something to the effect of "That's a horrible idea and it would be extraordinarily dangerous for the model since the school of surgeonfish would attack her and cut her up with their barbs!"

'STRUTH!

this has nothing to do with fish tanks, but when my parents were on an alaskan cruise, they had this guy ask them: "Do you know our current elevation?"
if you dont get it, you're on a cruiseship........ on water.

when i was at the LFS this lady was looking at a peacock mantis and asked (actually kinda yelled across the room to the worker who was with another customer) "is that a rainbow lobster? its so hot i totally want one!, how will it go in my 125 gallon reef?" then i say "well, its a mantis shrimp, and it will kill all your fish, and take of you fingers if you put your hand in the tank" then she gives me this dirty look and walks over to the LFS guy. she interupts him and after about a 10 second conversation, storms out the door. turns out she didnt even have her tank set up yet.

This Man asked at our LFS if he could put a blue-spot stingray in his 24gal nano and said sense he had no rock in it he could move around.
"I put a 5" lionfish to my 55gal reef tank and all my fish died, how could they have died?"
This dude was next to me at our LFS "Were can I buy a fish?"
I wonder about some of these people.
