70 Gal. Acrylic and hood question

I'm thinking about getting a new aquarium and I'm new to this. I was wondering if I would have any problems buying the hood and stand if I buy the aquarium separately. The 70 gal. acrylic aquarium is Tall so it measures 36" X 18" X 24" and I'm not sure if the hoods have to be those exact dimensions or not. Seems like those measurements are usually set for the smaller aquariums (55 gal) so I'm not sure if I'll have overload problems with a more powerful light since the aquariums larger. Any thoughts on this? Probably just over thinking things...

well the hood doesnt have to have the exact measurements but it might look very odd if its not close to that. Its hard to answer by overloaded, do u mean the lights u want to put in? What is ur goal with the tank, FO, reef, etc?
I had that tank almost exactly and to be honest it was a hassle getting enough light to turn it into a reef and avoiding needing a chiller. The depth is the killer, you need MH to get that deep and mine would quickly overheat w/o a chiller. Honestly unless there is a very specific reason I highly suggest going a more standard size.. aka 4 foot long you have a lot more options and since is more common I found canopies, etc cheaper. It also makes a world of difference that extra foot under the tank if u decide to run a sump.

The extra height is also a pain. I have a 85 gallon that is 24 in tall and I have to stand on a ladder to get to the bottom and my arm can only reach 1/4 of the way down without the chair and I'm 6'2"!
