I'm already germinating my veggie seeds this year!!! The last freeze date this year in Louisiana is March 3rd. So, I'm gonna buy some plants at the end of this month!!! woot woot!
I got a 70x36 foot plot that I plant.... I also have some raised beds at my apartment... a 16x4 foot area. I grow enough to eat fresh veggies most of the year, and enough to can and give away too.

We start off with seed too. I am learning that I am not patient for the waiting. Parts of me want to buy the already growing at LOWES or something hahaha. but I like the satisfaction of growing our own veggies

I too garden, I grow a salsa garden, ever thing to make fresh salsa. But as of late my tomatoes have not producing a lot of fruit and with blossom-end rot all so my plants have leaf curl. I've read that you need to rotate your tomatoes grow spot every two years. Since I reduced my garden by 2/3 had 40x20 spot now 8x8 it hard to do. So this year I'm going to turn my winter mulch pill place plastic bags over garden to sterilize it then grow hairy vetch to add nitrogen to soil. I plane for next year to have a health crop of tomatoes.

I also garden every year, but have never mustered the discipline to start early with seed. Good on 'ya!

Heh. It's not that hard to grow a plant - at least not for me.
Starting with seed is very easy, just gotta know when to do it and how. :D
Tomatoes can be pretty easy, and yes, you are supposed to rotate them. Blossom end rot, though, means that there isn't enough nitrogen in the soil. I cheat and add fertilizers to everything, and a little extra ash from the pit here and there. I also adjust my soil pH with lime sometimes - and I have a 55g container I fill up that drip irrigates my soil. So... yeah... I pretty much got it all covered. I am just starting to prepare a little earlier then usual this year.

Yeah, I grow tomatoes, okra, squash, cucumbers, lettuce, broccoli, spinach, kale, onions, garlic, bell peppers, swiss chard, ... I'm going to try pole beans. I was also pretty successful with fresh basil, parsley, chives, oregano and rosemary. Just trying to grow a variety of things. :D I'll post some pics of my garden in a new thread when I get it all up and going.

I am not impressed with your 7000+ posts...it's hardly a dent in that "Cyber book" you are writing for this site, on how to do all things concerning saltwater tanks. So...LOL...Mr. types fast, get moving.
I have no green thumb. The only plant I seem to be able to keep alive is an Aloe vera, I even dried out a cactus once. I was planning on trying to grow some tomatoes in a 5g bucket this spring...we shall see how that goes.

I've been toying with the idea of placing "French Wells" every few feet. Take a used gallon milk jug, poke holes all in it, bury it up to the neck and fill with water so it will slowly seep out the holes.
It get pretty dry around here mid summer...

The last time I grew pole beans, I bought the seed from a glitzy store without using my reading glasses to choose the pack. Instead of the type grandma used to grow, I ended up with some monster designer cultivar. They grew so fast I had to use a machete to harvest the garden that year.
This is what my garden patch looks like:

Yeah. In Louisiana the soil gets really really dry I the summer with 100+F days or about 45 days out of the year. I use the 55g and drip irrigation and cedar mulch just to keep my plants alive and growing enough. In the years past, it didn't work out so well without it. Yah know what? Why don't I just create a gardening thread? Lol
