We have had the tank for atleast 5 wks now. I would like to change to rocks around and we are adding more tonight. Here is our tank.

Any suggestions on how to rearrange the rock? Can I see your tank pictures?

Its a good start. Add as much rock as you think will look good. The only bummer is you will have to buy cured live rock which is a little pricey to avoid a cycle. Or if you have some patience, cure you own live rock by buying uncured and cure it in a trash can for several weeks . Your choice either way.

Looks very cool Cassie...you're right, your stand and mine look very much alike. My first pic is of my 46 gallon bowfront reef, and the second is my 37 gallon waiting for seahorses...

Thanks Lisa. I love your vase. Where did you get it? I was looking for something neat like that to give maybe a "wreckage" look to the tank. Here is an updated picture of how I rearranged the rock. I do like it much better. And my husband told me we can for sure go get more rock tonight. I know the cured will be more expensive (7.99/lb), but the LFS doesn't sell uncured that much cheaper (5.99/lb). But I am excited.

I bought the vase in my reef at my LFS...they've really been getting into buying cool decorations for any kind of tank, and when I saw that vase I thought I would try it out in my new reef.
It's so much fun to get new rock into your tank. Really surprising what that adds to the landscape. Post pics after adding it.

Lisa, I am going to have to check out some different LFS tomorrow. The one that sells the "better" quality LR didn't have anything. But we did find a new shop that is suppose to be awsome near our house. We are going to go there Saturday.
Here is the new picture:

NolaTrav: I love how your new tank (left side of pict) has a cave look. Any recomendations on how to make one?
Do my "caves" look too big? Also, on the rock we were given, there seems to be alot of white spots. Is that normal? Do you think everything looks alright?
Enjoy

All I can really tell you is scavenge you LFS's, lol, they should all carry different types of rock. I dont really remember what type of rock it is, but that store always has nice odd shaped pieces. I think I got lucky finding that one. Other than that its kinda like a tri-pod, 3 large pieces hold the shelf.
You really just have to experiment with your rock. I've rearranged mine 4 times prolly and finally find a fit. You'll grow tired of the look and change it and eventually find something you feel unmatchable.
Thanks for the compliment.
Oh BTW, your rock prolly looks white on some halves because it wasnt getting light on those parts, it'll start to blend. just wait.

Also you said "the rock we were given" (assuming you purchased it at LFS); start picking out your pieces, any LFS should be more than happy to let you dig through their tubs.

NolaTrav: we were actually given the first set of rock from my aunt who also gave us the tank. She was moving and didn't want the rock to die during the move. It was gotten at the same LFS that we just purchased from last night. I know the majority of the rock is Fuji, but there are some Tonga (pretty sure what that is called). Our LFS is pretty cool, they keep records of what you bought so they can be "reminded" about your tank so they can better serve you. Atleast that is what they have said. So we did have then look up all the things my aunt bought..lol.
I do have a hitchiker in my tank (So excited). I am going to get a picture here in a minute as soon as I find wher my daughter put my camera. But I am pretty sure it is a featherduster. Hopefully it is a good thing to keep though if not a featherduster.

Here are the pictures. Sorry they are alittle blury. Right now the item in questions is a brown color and when it opens it almost looks white.

So what do you think it is? Also, is it in a good spot if it is something "good" for the tank? or should I flip the rock so it is upward toward the light?
Thanks
Cassie
