75 Gallon Diary

Next Wednesday I'm going to pick up my new 75 gallon bow front. So far I have 100 pounds of Live Caribbean Sand, and a wet/dry canister filter. Some of the other equipment that I have on my 55 gallon that I plan on using are my two 850 gph Hydor Koralia Powerheads, 325 watt Nova Extreme T-5 fixture, and coralife skimmer. Any comments or suggestions?? I posted a couple pictures, and I'll have more as the week progresses. This is my third tank in a year, and my last. First I had a 20 gallon, than a 55 gallon, and now a 75 gallon. Any suggestions as to what I can do with my fish, frogspawn, BT anemone, brain, and polyps corals while my new tank cycles??

Looks like its gonna be a nice tank whens everythings setup! Can't wait to see it! You aren't going to have to cycle the new tank, as long as the old tank has a descent amount of LR that is cured. Just fill up the tank with RO or RO/DI water mixed with salt, and then transfer everything over. The whole point of a cycle is to build up bacteria, but if you already have a cycled tank with bacteria, then you'll be fine. Good luck with the build. I am also upgrading up to a 75, but its not a bow.

Thanks, I do have about 75 pounds of LR so that will help a lot. Wednesday is set up day so I'll be adding pictures then. For a stocking list I'm thinking a blue tang, dwarf angel, and a six line wrasse, along with the foxface, 2 clowns, 3 chromies, and gobie I already have.

i think its a wet/dry filter. just make sure to keep up with maintenance.
A wet/dry that size seems to me to be to small for a 75G.
But I'm a sump/fuge man myself.

I was thinking of going with a sump, but this was a little cheaper. Everything I have read about the filter was very good, I'm confident it will work well.

I would recommend liverock in place of the bioballs in there... its much more beneficial and has both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.

Alright, after a ton of work here it is. I put the fish and some live rock in one bin, the coral and the rest of the live rock in another.

100 pounds of Live sand

Should I start my filter?? I have my powerheads running right now. Is that even alright?? I would like to have the sand settled as soon as possible!

most of the cloudiness should clear up within 48 hours. and the filter should clear the rest of it up.
