This is the beggining of a new reef.
75 gallon tank
emperor 400 filter
2 maxi-jet 600's
2x250 MH and 4x54w T5 and moonlights
We have a marinland c220 canister filter but can't seem to get it work so decided not to bother with it for now.
Salinity is 1.025
Ammonia spike is just starting...
Can not wait for the cycle to end in throw in the cleaning crew,
Can anyone reccoment an RO/DI unit that wont kill the wallet to bad?

We are going to have to get a skimmer and there is room inside the stand so i'm thinking about going with a sump. I'd rather hide everything underneath so the tank isn't so cluttered.
My tank isn't drilled so i'm not sure how to go about getting a sump set up yet. Still got some research to do.

There are overflow boxes you can use that don't require drilling the tank (even though I would suggest you drill it now before you have livestock in it). If you are going to use an overflow box I would suggest you stay away from the ones that require an aqualifter pump. I think it's Esshops that makes a pretty reliable U-Tube overflow box that runs quietly and won't loose the siphon in the even of a power failure.

Let me make sure i got this right...i would need...
1) a tank inside the stand
2) an overflow that sends water down
3) a pump that sends water up
Then everything just sits in the tank underneath.
how would i stop the water from flowing down if the power goes out? Since it can't come back up into the display

So started a different thread on how to set up my Sump. looking like i can get that set up this weekend and clear out the tank a bit more. Also a fried is giving me more live rock so the set up will likely change quite a bit depending on how much he is giving me.

Ordered a RODI unit should be here tomorrow...made the mistake of using tap water so Diatoms are raging out of control right now.
Ammonia spike is way down and nitrites and nitrates are still there in force
Can't wait to add a cleanup crew.
Got some algea growth already too...its BRIGHT green almost florescent but i'm sure the cleaning crew can take care of that just fine.
Tank is 2 weeks old.
