I have my 75 gallon tank almost done with the cycle. I have 80 pounds live sand and 80 pounds live rock. was able to bring the rock home in pails and i only live 8 blocks from LFS. when it is done i am going to move the fish i have in my other tank to it. Here is what i have that i will move to it:
1 pair ocellaris clowns
6 chromises
pulsing Zenia, candy cane coral, star polyp, and Kenya tree coral
what i would like to add to the new tank is the following:
1 blue hippo tang ( i know that i am pushing it with only 75 gallon tank)
3 fire gobbies
1 red mandarin ( after i have the tank set up for 9 months)
I do have allot of copepods already running wild in the tank. i think thats a good sign.
Do you think that will be too many fish for the size of tank. I have extra filtration going. I don't want to crowd anything out. I will also have some crabs snails and maybe a cleaner shrimp.

Yes you're pushing it with the Hippo, but I think you'll be fine if that's all your putting in. Are you set on the hippo? You'd be better off going with a smaller tang, such as a Kole or Tomini, even a Yellow might be a better option. One of my husbands friends has a mated pair of hippo tangs in his 75G, so it can be done. Just depends on how you lay everything out, but if you're not dead set on the hippo, I'd look into something else. Have you thought about a dwarf angel?

i thought about a dwarf angel but i have been told that they can be coral bitters. I thought with the blue hippo tang that by the time it out grows my tank i may be ready to upgrade my tank. If not i am sure i will not have a problem finding someone to take it. As long as i get my red mandarin i will be happy so maybe i will consider not getting the hippo tang. I have be reading as much as possible on the mandarin. I have been building the tank with the ultimate purpose to hold the mandarin along with my current coral. actually i would like to add another stock of candy cane coral. i love mine.

I have a Coral Beauty Angel and so does my dad. You have to put it in the tank for a few months without any corals and feed it daily. It will get use to being feed and not hunting. I have pulsing xenia, star polyps, zoos, and mushrooms and he doesnt even look in their direction.
They say the same about Copperband Butterfly fish, i feel and from experience that if introduced correctly they will thrive. Stock the risky first before your corals for a few months and then slowly add your corals. My CBA dosent even pick at my rocks anymore.
