welp, not quite 100% new, just to the aggresive side... i will finally be setting up my 75gallon tank...FINALLY...after a year or two of waiting, lol. Anyways, I have decided to get a lion over a puffer...now i am just considering what to put in with the guy. I of course, want something active, but no t to sure what all is ok with them, is it just as long as he is not smaller...or a nipper?
i was thinking as of now as to some type of tang, angel(?), trigger, OR sfe..have to do more searching to see what i like...i do like the achilles tang, but don't know much about them yet...but anyways, i have a big day tomorrow setting it all up, should be fun ***)
Also are they ok with starfish? i was thinking i'd like to get one sometime.

i think maybe the best of the three choices would be a trigger.....or a shark. my bamboo shark and fu manchu lion get along great. and ive gto a humuhumu trigger, lots of fun.

haha, yea, no shark :joy: how in the world do you put the lion into the tank?? surely a net can be very harmful to them....i'd like to have em captured in a container when bought, but how would i put him back in without putting the stores water in my tank?

As long as the store doesn't use copper, JUST this once, you can dump the LFS's water into your tank. If you feel anxious, just do a water change a week after you get it. I have netted lions at my lfs (lfs volunteer), and I've gotten it stuck twice..its easy to do. I've had to cut the net around its spines, which is a pain..luckily ive never been stung.

I'm in the process of converting my 72g to a more aggressive tank and will be getting a Fuzzy Dwarf and a Valentini Puffer. But from the research I've done not only is that too small a tank for any Trigger, Triggers are also likely to go after the Lion. Triggers, being extremely agressive - especially as they get older - tend to cut down on the other fish you can keep with them. The only Tangs you can try to keep in a 75 are a Yellow Tang and a Kole Tang. I have a Hippo in my tank right now, but once she grows too big I'll have to sell/trade her. Long term 72/75 is not big enough. You could also keep a Maroon Clown with a Lion. Also, Dwarf Angels would be good. And there are a few of the more agressive Wrasses as well.
