75gal rr setup help.

i just bought a 75gal rr oceanic tank and it came with a oceanic plus 75 trickle filter.. so i took out the bio balls and was going to put lr down there but the money is a little tight right now. so i was thinking of doing the same thing as my biocube. i took out the balls and put in lava rock that seemed to work fine.. what do you guys think i should do.. ill get a pic tonight on the sump. i never seen a sump like this before.

I like rock better than bio balls. But I like the creature infested LR to help with eating any free floating pieces of food or detritus. Lava rock would be exactly the same as the bio balls. Just surface area for your bio filtration. That's it.

You do not need light.
And I wouldn't add sand either.

So if you use lr in the sump instead of bio balls its better, and you don't need lighting for the lr? hmmm... been wondering how to update my sump to perform better without costing too much. (I work at a LFS so lr rubble is a little easier to come by)
