I'm custom building an 8.5g tank, random I know, but I'm designing it to fit a certain space in the office, and it's going to be amazing once I pull it off.
So here's the question, how much maintenance is needed for a nano tank. My friend's who keep them do water changes every week. I'm unfortunately travelling every every other week for business, and I don't think my buddy is capable of more than putting some food in. I usually fly back every weekend for a couple days, but there may be a few times the tank will be sitting for two weeks with food only.
I'm not looking for much, just some LR and maybe one fish, one shrimp, few crabs. I'd like to keep it hang-on free, so I'm looking at small filters that are completely submersible, with a small heater and powerhead. Thinking of using a 28-watt, maybe eventually upgrade to a 96 quad, but I'm not keeping corals in it since I won't be there to watch over them.
Anyways, let me know if you have any suggestions or if i should just turn this into a tiny fresh tank (shudder at the thought). THanks guys.
