90 gal. diary

So it's been a long time since i've started another saltwater tank and I've had my 90 sitting in my office for well over a year! The only thing i've managed to do with the tank was stain the stand a nice cherry color. I've spent the past month piecing together all the needed equipment and this week i've recieved my lights, my sump/fuge/and my pump. So far what i've got:
90 AGA RR 48"x18"x21"
ADHI 45 Refugium
Mag 9.5
48" Sundial T5
140lbs of Nature's ocean 0.5mm - 1.0mm
So hopefully in the next few days or so i'll be posting pictures and going through the motions of getting the tank ready to start cycling. Figuring out whether i'm going to order LR and LS or buy it from a LFS. I'll have to gauge this as I go. I'm also in the market for an RO/DI unit. I'm going to fool around with the ADHI sump/fuge and try to figure out plumbing so I can get it tonight. excited!
^_^
It should be fun.

Well congrats on getting up to it again. This hobby is more addiction, so here's to starting slow and continueing slowly. "Nothing good ever happens fast in a saltwater system!"

So i'm pretty much a moron. Tonight I decided to paint the back of my tank black and while doing so i figured i'd be smart and slide my new fuge into the stand with the tank being off of it. First i had to remove the center support, this was easy. So I did that and my wife and i dropped the fuge in and CRAP, there's like so very little clearance inside of the stand to do ANYTHING with the fuge. I don't even know if my SKIMMER will fit and whether or not i'll be able to perform hassle free maintainence on it as needed. I'm so angry at myself for not measuring in the first place. I bought the second largest fuge because of the size of the fuge and the reservoir sections, and the overall 45 gallons it holds in addition to my 90 gallons. So tonight I racked my brain on exactly what I could do, if I could modify this current stand (standard AGA pine stand) or build myself a new one, tailor made specifically to fit my fuge. SosoSO angry

Oh and if anyone has any ideas i'd greatly appreciate all input on the situation. I'm going to try to get some pictures for reference.

I've been a horrible diary owner, seriously. Although I really haven't done much with the tank. I finished plumbing in the little bit of spare time I had today after having a horrible time of trying to do so over the past few weeks. Now the tank is ready for water. I'm still trying to narrow down which RO/DI unit i'm wanting to get, my number one is still The Filter Guys OceanReef +1 or whatever it's called. I'm currently posting from the hospital. The wife and I had a scare this weekend and we've been here since Saturday afternoon. (she's 28 weeks pregnant with twins) She came in with contractions and they've kept a keen eye on her. After this she's off work officially until the babies are born and well, until she's ready to work again. Bed rest for her! So it's been an interesting weekend/beginning of the week.
OH and a lighter note. I bought a sweet Zoa rock today for 30 bucks with these gorgeous red polyps with green mouths. And a few other red/green/blue polyps hiding in there as well. AND to add to that, hiding on the rock were two hermit crabs and a cortez snail. All for 30 dollars. That's a steal if you ask me ^_^ I'll post a picture, check it out. :D

Like i said they look a little purple in the picture, that's under 14k 150w halide.
In person they're a brick red and really gorgeous.
I'm curious as to what they'll look like in the 90 under the T5's!

Don't know if you built a new stand or not. If you wanted to and had the room You could build a side stand to enclose the sump/refugium and still plumb everything together. Under your tank stand would be just storage.
Sweet looking rock!
Good luck

I really wish I had the room to do that. Actually I keep joking with my wife. The tank is sitting on a wall that the family room and bathroom share. I keep nudging her into letting me steal the bathroom and converting it into a fish room. Hahaha. It'll never happen but I can dream. I appreciate the input. I love the rock! It's got a ton on it so after I give it a chance to get settled in i'll probably frag it a few times.

I wish I had more to add to this. Between working all night and being back and forth to the hospital, my poor 90g is being neglected before I even get it set all the way up! This is so frustrating. Oh i'm BACK at the hospital. Twice in a weeks time. Twins are a pain in the butt, whether or not they've been born yet! Hopefully something to come soon. >.< HOPEFULLY.
Jason.
