90 gallon issues...

I am starting my cycle on a 90 gallon tank next week. Does anyone have any suggestions on filters/ equiptment to use for this tank. I will give you this much info. It is going to be a FO tank with a little bit of live rock on a 3 inch sand bed. Undergravel filter...??? Never used a protien skimmer so I am not sure about them...All the possible info you can give me will help in this time of joy cuz this will be my new big tank....Love ya all...thanks for the great posts and all the great info... :) :) :) :) :)

good advice, ditch the ugf, especiallllly with a sand bed, won't work anyhow
skimmers are great tools and a great help, jsut get a good and adequate skimmer for a 90 gallon tank, if you are going aggressive, then go overbaord a bit
and get a couple of powerheads
isnc it is gonna be a fo, then i would not go too overboard with lighting, maybe 2 65 watt pc's(actually it owuld be sold as a 130, with 2 bulbs),and get 10000kelvins, good bright color and will show off the fish nicely, also much cheaper thatn vho's or mh's, and more than adequate for a fish only tank
