We have a 90 litre tank and was wanting to now do i need a protein skimmer for a tank that size ? Have seen them in shops with a special bag i forget the name. How many fish or corals and live rock could i put in there? Already have 540 reef tank with skimmer but wanting to know what i could put in without any trouble. Also i am asking for a friend who wants a anemone and a couple of clowns your thoughts would help as there is so much different info out there i am confused.

hey i have a 90 litr tank myself. i used about 14kgs of live rock, but thats pretty packed and you can get away with about ten if u ask me. you should let the tank mature for about 6 months before adding an anenome, but you can add clowns well before that. in terms of what sort of fish you can have anything that dosnt get too big should be ok, im planning to have 2 clowns a sixline wrasse a fire goby and a shrimp goby in my 90 litre.

A protein skimmer is not a necessity per se, but if you really want one an Aqua C Remora protein skimmer would work wonders. Regardless, make sure you perform 10-15% weekly water changes or 20-25% water changes every other week.

live rock is essential to all tanks because it acts as a natural filter, i strongly reccomend you get some but adding live rock now will only make all you ammonia and nitrite and nitrate levels spike up during the cycling process. this will kill your fish, i suggest you find a temporary home for your fish while you add live rock to your 90litre tank, wait about 3-4 weeks for it to cycle and then add your fish back in.
yeah my water is pretty clear i got pics of my tank in a thread in this forum if you wanna have a look
