You might want to ditch the porc puffer idea since they nip at lion fins, even dwarf lions. The also will eventually get to over a foot in length. All the others sound like good ideas.

A pair of clowns and a single dwarf angel would get along fine. Yes, you should pick either the puffer or the lion. The lion is the better choice. Porc puffers nip like crazy, I've got one. It used to nibble at the tails of all my fish. You might have better results with the puffer/lion combo if you got a toby puffer.

I'm basing my answer off of probability. You had luck with your pair, but that's the exception and not the rule. Also, I own a porc puffer (like he was asking about) and they definitely like biting on anything frilly.

I agree it happens, Puffers nipping and killing the lion or the lion stinging the puffer....
3bavboys - No your clowns will not be OK with a Puffer or Lion.

A dwarf lion and clowns will go together just fine. V-Lioness, why do you consider them a bad match?

Because even if the Lion is small it will eventually out grow the clowns and eat them. If we are talking larger Maroon clowns than it would be fine but the smaller clowns will become a snack.

Some dwarf lions only get 4 to 6 inches, same as clowns. It would have to be a very small clown and a full grown dwarf lion for there to be any problem. When they are both full sized, the lion won't be able to eat the clown.
3bavboys: Just don't get a radiata or a volitan lion and you'll be fine. Also, get the lion small at around 2".

So you really think that Lions and Clowns grow at the same rate?
Lions grow quicker than clowns, I have had a pair of Perc's in my 90g for 7 years yet they are only 1 - 1 1/2 inches, my fuzzy that is in my 300g has been with me for only 2 years yet it is 4 inches. yes my fuzzy could easily eat my perc's..........

7 years and the only got to 1 inch... Well, I suppose it's possible. I must have the wierd clowns that grow larger over time. You do realise that an inch is only (_________) that big right? My Perc clown is twice that and I've only had him 6 months.
By the way 3bavboys, what type of clowns do you have?

Well, you have to admit that's wierd. Most fish would have reached their max size in 7 years. I guess we won't agree on this one, but ask most any other board member and they will agree that a 4-6 inch clown can live fine with a dwarf lion.
