I'm getting ready to update the lighting in my tank as I've outgrown the plain old fluorescent, which I don't think I'm supposed to be using anyways. The Tank came with two lighting hoods one holds simple fluorescents the other came with 2 actinics and two 10,000k both Coralifes(these burned out shortly after purchase, but they were used so im notprticularly miffed about that).
My thought/concern is if I replace the originals, will the lighting be strong enough for say an anemone down the line. Also I'm wondering if they're appropriate for some faster coraline algae growth. The water depth is about 22 inches.
Any thoughts/opinions/advice the hood holds 4 straight pin 22 inch bulbs and my finances will not allow for a new hood any time soon. I'm actually trying to design a 2 section sump/fuge for the stand as it's open and has an annoying cupboard in the center so I need to basically have two separate tanks under there...I figure I can come up with something cool and I have friend that works in acrylic and thats where my next ittle chunk of money will go...but thats another post for another time lol
