A couple ??? about my cycling tank

Hey all

My tank has been up and running now since Monday and had the live rock in since Wednesday. Everything seems to be going very well. My water tests show my ammonia peeked for two days now is starting to go back down. My Nitrites are now peeking and the nitrates are at 10,(after going up to 40 for a day). Just ondering if my tank is cycling super fast or something. Thanks!

Nitrites can hang on for a while. Also, the presence of nitrite can falsify a nitrate test.
Good LR can speed a cycle, esp. if it was cured.

What are you using to cycle, just live rock??? Some tanks cycle faster then others. My tank never really "spiked", but it did go through a cycle. When you say spiked are you talking off the charts, or just an increase in the levels? Welcome to saltwater. It sounds like your tank is cycling just fine.
