a couple of questions on powerheads

i was just wondering what the flow rate should be of a powerhead for my tank. its a 46 gallon and the only form of circulation right now is the return from the canister filter, it does ok but i think we should get more. What is a good brand and where is a good place to get them, also what accesories if any should be added TIA!!!!

I've read that as a rule of thumb, good circulation is turning the entire volume of the tank over 10 times in one hour (i.e. 460 gph for your tank). You may want 2 250gph powerheads or somethin like that.

10X per hour is a good minimum and up to 20X is even better especially if you have a reef tank.
Good Powerheads IMO are maxi jets. for a 46g you could go with 2 maxi jet 600's which I think are around 165gph each.

10x volume per hr is a good rate...more if you want corals that require a higher flow rate. Maxi jets are good powerheads...you could also develope a overflow/sump/return system that could increase flow rate without the addition of powerheads.
